Stuart Bruce
Karen Marshall

Stuart Bruce is a founder and partner of BMA PR. Before starting his own business in 1998 he was responsible for the UK public relations and public affairs for Grant Thornton, one of the world's largest accountants.

He has worked across a wide range of sectors including technology, law, accountancy, telecommunications, local authorities, regeneration, housing and higher education. Between 1999 and 2006 he was an elected member of Leeds City Council where he held a number of responsibilities including lead member for corporate communications and customer services, area committee chair and member of the development control (planning) panel.

Clients he has advised include Royal Mail, University of Leeds, Premier Farnell plc, Sanderson Computers, ICl, CSC, Irwin Mitchell, Privilege Insurance, Electronic Sports World Cup, ITnet plc, Skills for Justice, Forestry Commission, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the Department for Education and Employment.

Stuart is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and holds a postgraduate qualification in communications, advertising and marketing. He is the winner of two prestigious PR Week awards - ‘Best International Campaign’ for a global technology company and ‘Best Healthcare Campaign’ for a group of solicitors and trade unions.

Karen Marshall

Karen Marshall is a partner of Bruce Marshall Associates. Before starting her own business Karen worked in the public sector as a local government officer for West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.

Karen has particular expertise in community relations, outreach programmes and extensive event management experience. Her media relations expertise includes both the regional and consumer media. She has experience of working with senior government ministers to produce major public policy conferences.

From 1998 to 2004 Karen was also a councillor on Leeds City Council, the country’s second largest local authority. Her responsibilities included being Champion for Young People and Lead Member for Social Services and City Services. She has also been a member of planning committees and scrutiny boards.
